Editorial Policy
Last updated: July 3, 2026
Zithers.org publishes educational content about zithers and related string instruments. This Editorial Policy explains the standards we aim to follow when researching, writing, reviewing, and updating content.
Editorial Mission
Our mission is to make the zither family easier to understand through clear explanations of instrument types, construction, sound production, tuning, playing traditions, history, terminology, and comparisons. We aim to serve readers who want more depth than a short definition but still need accessible language.
Research Standards
When preparing content, we may consult museum materials, academic sources, music references, instrument documentation, historical descriptions, maker information, and reputable educational resources. We try to distinguish between widely accepted information, regional variation, and areas where terminology or classification is debated.
Accuracy and Context
Many zither-related instruments have names that vary by language, region, period, and musical tradition. We aim to avoid misleading simplification. When appropriate, content may explain alternate names, construction differences, cultural context, and the limits of direct comparison between instruments.
Independence
Editorial decisions are based on relevance, clarity, usefulness, and topical fit. References to instruments, makers, traditions, products, or external resources do not automatically mean endorsement. Advertising or monetization does not determine the educational position of an article.
Corrections and Updates
We may revise articles when new information becomes available, when terminology needs clarification, or when readers point out possible errors. Correction requests should identify the page involved, the specific issue, and any supporting context or source material.
Use of Images and Media
Images, diagrams, and visual materials are selected or created to support educational understanding. We aim to avoid misleading visuals and to respect copyright, attribution, and fair-use considerations where applicable.
Reader Feedback
Reader feedback is welcome, especially when it improves accuracy, cultural context, terminology, or clarity. Please use the Contact page for editorial questions, correction requests, or concerns about published material.
